Honoring Maria Montessori’s legacy as an advocate for global peace, we have incorporated the Montessori Model United Nations program into our academic program. MMUN meets twice per week. During this time, third-level students and above study different cultures and nations, develop problem-solving skills, and discuss existing problems of the world. In the spring, UN studies culminate when fourth-level students and above take on the role of “delegates” at MMUN in NYC. Here students meet delegates from national and international schools, representing other nations to discuss global problems and brainstorm possible solutions. The program follows the work of Dr. Montessori to connect the students with building peace in the prepared surroundings of the United Nations, the global forum for peace.
