A Call for Peace
On October 9, we celebrated Peace Day and HPMS’ 19th birthday. Our hearts were full as we watched students sing and recite poems honoring one of our most cherished values — living together in harmony. The celebration was a beautiful reminder of the peace and unity that connect us all. We’re so grateful to our community members who share their voice and spirit with our community. Sixth Level Ethan Rodriguez shared an original poem with our Hamilton Park Community. We are so pleased to be able to share it here with you!

A Call for Peace
By Ethan Rodriguez, grade 6, HPMS Class of 2028
Hello, my name is Ethan Rodriguez, and I believe personally that in the times we live in right now, all we truly need is peace.
That is why I think that Hamilton Park Montessori School (HPMS) Peace Day is one of the most important days of the school year—where we can show our community and our world that in the end, our solution is love and peace, where we can show our kindness and our compassion. Also, as students and elders, one of our jobs is to be role models for younger children. Peace Day shows younger children generosity and unity. That’s why I created this original poem about the truth of peace.
I hope you enjoy it!
Peace is a River
Peace is the Sea
Peace is a Woodland with bushes and creeks
Peace is a Hi!
Peace is a smile
Peace is a kind gesture that might take a while
Peace is a warm hug when feeling sad
Peace is a birthday letter you leave for your dad
In the world that we live in
Peace is what we need
To create a community
Of love and unity
This is our moment!
We will rise!
With loving hearts and open eyes!
It starts with me
It starts with you
Our voices are strong
We all belong
Let’s stand as one
And plant a seed
Deeply rooted in empathy
We’ll beat our hearts
Like a might drum
And call for years of peace to come.
